Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who is currently serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs has clarified his stance on the Hustler Fund loans, stating that it was never meant to be a grant to the public.

Appearing in the Senate while responding to questions from Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, the cabinet secretary acknowledged that in the 1st place he had some concerns on how the loans would be repaid. But later, after going through the plan of action more closely, he now believes it is a great initiative.

The CS requested all beneficiaries who had borrowed the money from the fund to take repayment seriously, noting that by taking that action would help the Hustler Fund program sustain itself and ensure others benefit from the same fund in the future.

“I urge all those who have received the Hustler Fund to repay their loans. This is the only way to keep the program going and help more people in need,” he emphasized in the Senate.
