Political commentator Dr. Dennis Ouma has issued a devastating assessment of the newly launched Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) headed by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua. He dismissed it as a political refuge for discredited and sidelined political figures.

On his argument, Dr. Ouma maintained that the new political party, fronted by impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is largely composed of personalities who have either been rejected at the ballot by their electorates or lost credibility in the public eye.

He talked of former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, former Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mithika Linturi, Former Starehe Mp Maina Kamanda, former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru, and politicians Mbae, where he described them collectively as “political rejects.”

Describing the Democratic Citizens Party as “a failed project from inception,” Dr. Ouma put questions to its political legitimacy and potential impact in the Kenyan political arena, suggesting it lacked both public support and a reasonable ideological foundation.

Dr. Ouma also reiterated his strong belief that President William Ruto will virtually assuredly be re-elected in 2027, stating that the outcome is, in his view, a foregone conclusion merely awaiting formal ratification since the opposition don’t have the stamina to make him a one term president as they claim.
