Detectives in Nairobi have apprehended another suspect connected to the fatal shooting of Kasipul Kabondo Member of Parliament Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were. The suspect, who has been identified as Amos Barasa Kasili, was arrested in Kibera, Darajani area in an intelligence led operation.

Barasa was linked to the heinous crime through forensic evidence, that placed him at the scene of the tragic shooting on April 30, 2025.
Investigations done showed that he was the rider of the motorcycle that transported the assailants before and after the attack. At the time of arrest, the motorbike, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number KMFZ 413W, was also recovered in his possession.

The police say the suspect has a long history of criminal activities and often he has been possing as a Boda Boda operator while working with armed law breakers.
During the interrogation, Baraza confessed to have being hired by the main suspects and acknowledged to have received Ksh. 50,000 as payment for his role in the assassination assignment.
The CCTV footage obtained from near Parliament roads, captured the same motorcycle KMFZ 413W tracking the MP’s vehicle, further building up the case against him.

The authorities following on the case also disclosed that Barasa was a serial criminal and had previously served time at Industrial Area Prison, where he is believed to have met with some of the key suspects involved in this same case.
As we report, Barasa is in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court as interrogations continue. The police have commitment to bringing all those who might have been involved in the killing of Hon. Charles Were to justice.
