Political commentator Wahome Thuku has given a warning to the upcoming Kisii politician Morara Kebaso, cautioning him against being involved in adversarial politics in readness to the 2027 General Election, particularly with his trabesmate, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
In a message that he posted on his social platforms that has garnered immense attention in the political circles, Thuku called on Kebaso to seek a more productive campaign strategy as he focuses on his policies and vision instead of confrontational politics.
Drawing parallels with Kenya’s past political history, Wahome warned Kebaso that continued political aggression, specifically earmarking established individuals like Matiang’i, could wreck his political ambitions thus leaving him politically fatigued and disillusioned.
Thuku noted that electoral politics should be like a 90-minute football match, and while aiming to win, a candidate should also enjoy the process.
Thuku posted, requesting Kebaso to remain calm and focus on sharpening his vision and manifesto. “Let Kenyans decide whether to accept or reject your message. Don’t force them to believe you are the best.”
On his post, Thuku referenced the early 2000s political landscape to strongly support his point, pointing out how former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s initial political career almost stalled when he aggressively attacked the then, President Mwai Kibaki and his government.
